What Frontier is

Frontier is a real-time AI coaching system designed to help sales professionals excel during live calls. It analyzes conversations as they happen, providing instant, context-aware guidance directly to the sales rep, transforming how sales teams prepare and perform.

In sales, timing is everything. While post-call analysis offers valuable insights for training, it can’t change the outcome of a call that’s already ended. Frontier focuses on live, in-the-moment coaching because that’s where the most impactful interventions can occur. Imagine a rep struggling to answer a specific product question or deviating from a key selling point; Frontier surfaces a signal – a relevant cue or suggested response – instantly, allowing the rep to pivot and seize the opportunity right then and there. This immediate feedback loop is crucial for improving call effectiveness, closing deals, and boosting rep confidence in real-time.

The challenge lies in making this happen reliably and consistently during a live conversation. This isn’t merely about transcribing audio or running a large language model after the fact; it requires sophisticated orchestration to process speech, understand intent, evaluate context, and deliver precise, actionable guidance within milliseconds.

Frontier operates by deeply integrating into the live sales call environment. It typically runs as a desktop application on a salesperson’s Mac, providing a heads-up display (HUD) overlay that delivers coaching signals discreetly without interrupting the call flow.

The process begins with capturing the live audio from the call, on the rep’s own machine via the Recall Desktop SDK — no separate bot needs to join the meeting. Frontier is also moving to capturing the rep’s microphone and the system (customer) audio as two separate feeds, so each speaker can be coached cleanly.

Once captured, the audio streams to a speech-to-text service, usually Deepgram, which transcribes it into text segments called utterances. These utterances are then sent to Frontier’s cloud-based coordinator service, running on Cloudflare, which orchestrates the real-time analysis.

Not every utterance triggers a full analysis. Frontier intelligently gates inferences, processing only when new, meaningful information or a change in conversation warrants it. This selective processing, combined with fast, specialized AI models from various LLM providers, ensures that coaching is delivered promptly and efficiently. For example, if a rep asks a common question, a fast-answer service can provide an immediate response. More complex queries might trigger a deeper retrieval process against the organization’s knowledge base.

Coaching signals, such as suggested answers, script prompts, or detected questions, are then streamed back to the rep’s HUD in real-time. This entire complex loop — from audio capture to HUD display — is designed to operate seamlessly and quickly, empowering reps to perform at their best.
